Clean Air, Blue Skies

Today, 7th September, is designated International Day of Clean Air for blue skies. The theme for 2022 is The Air We Share, which focuses on the transboundary nature of air pollution and highlights the need for collective accountability and collective action.

If you know us, then you know the team at SnooCODE is passionate about the environment, and we are always happy to play our part to preserve it. This day brings to mind some of the actions we’ve taken over the last few years to help improve air quality. Below are three of SnooCODE’s contributions to clean air:

ROUTE OPTIMISATION CAPABILITIES: With the touch of a button, SnooCODE apps for Logistics and Commerce enable users like delivery people to visit multiple locations in the shortest possible time. This helps save fuel and reduce the carbon footprint of their vehicles. When working with small-scale delivery operators, we were able to improve their delivery capability by as much as 125%.

CLEAN ENERGY via the installation of SOLAR PANELS: There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind of the benefits of clean energy for businesses and most importantly, the environment.  Our 300-Watt Solar Panel installation has been one of the best decisions we have made as a company, both environmentally and economically. We currently rely on the national grid for only about 25% of our energy needs, and we look to reduce that dependency even more.

EFFICIENT OPERATIONS: Throughout the SnooCODE product and service lifecycle, there is an increased effort to reduce energy emissions by running operations in an efficient manner. For instance, SnooCODE does not have centralized storage of users’ personal location data, hence, does not contribute to the huge footprint from Cloud data centres. Our office space is also designed to allow as much natural air in as possible, while majority of the team works from within one large space, reducing the need for air-conditioners and other cooling systems.

As the impact of climate change continues to be felt around the world, there are many who believe the burden should be focused on the huge industrial and commercial corporations with large-scale emissions. The combined impact from our route optimization systems, use of clean energy, and efficient operations however shows us that it is possible for a small startup to make impactful contributions to complex challenges like climate change and the pollution of the air we share.
