World Wetlands Day is celebrated on the 2nd of February every year to reflect on the significance of wetlands and the impact that our actions have had on these precious ecosystems. Since the 1700s, the carbon footprint of human activities has had a profound effect on the world's water bodies, causing a decline in water quality and threatening the survival of the many species that depend on wetlands for their livelihood.

Human activities such as deforestation, industrialization, and the burning of fossil fuels have all contributed to a significant increase in carbon emissions, which in turn have caused the acidification and depletion of our water bodies. This acidification has had a devastating impact on marine and freshwater ecosystems, leading to a decline in biodiversity, a reduction in the overall health of our water bodies and overall, global warming.

However, there is hope on the horizon. SnooCODE, a cutting-edge geocoding technology, is making a significant contribution to reducing the carbon footprint and protecting our water bodies.

SnooCODE’s route optimisation system enables activities that require a lot of moving around such as parcel deliveries to be done more efficiently, ensuring that logistics have minimal impact (carbon footprint) on the environment.

The system, which also works offline and reduces road time by as much as 72.3%, surpassed DHL's by an average 19.6% in trials in Accra facilitated by the GIZ.

With SnooCODE’s route optimisation system, logistics and eCommerce companies can leverage  a fully charged electric bicycle, which by the way, produce no carbon emissions., to cover all delivery territory within a day.

The SnooCODE app is available for free download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and if adopted by logistics and eCommerce companies, chances, are, their carbon footprint will be drastically reduced.

World Wetlands Day is a reminder of the impact that our actions have had on the world's water bodies, and the importance of protecting these precious ecosystems. With the help of innovative technologies like SnooCODE, we can work towards reducing our carbon footprint and ensuring a brighter future for our water bodies and the many species that depend on them.
