Synopsis

When non-Africans hear of Africa, immediately they have a particular perception about the countries in Africa and their cultures – Poverty, hunger, safari, deprived, predisposed to diseases, and many others.  In the year 2019 when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, Africa was expected to suffer the worst and incur most deaths.

Studies however show that the trend of new cases in Africa were the lowest and mortality rates were the second lowest at 3.49%. On the other hand, linear regression analysis showed that hospital beds, GDP, diabetes, and higher average age were the significant risk factors for mortality in different continents.

This fictional story  explores how Nyankonton, a small town in Ghana, Africa, leveraged technology to mitigate the effects of the Zoonos virus outbreak on their inhabitants. Even though the people did not have state of the art infrastructure, they did have the most basic ones and one major problem they faced accessing these facilities was the lack of proper addressing systems.
